BMW Launches CarData
BMW recently announced that they’ve developed BMW CarData, which enables the various systems in your vehicle to communicate with you and your mechanic, offering a more customized experience at the service shop. Using data from your vehicle, your car can be serviced with precision. Plus, when the system communicates with the mechanic, problems can be anticipated before a breakdown.
Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, MINI, Rolls-Royce, BMW Motorrad, Customer Engagement and Digital Business Innovation BMW Group, said, “MW CarData will take the connectivity of our vehicles to a new dimension. Our BMW ConnectedDrive customers will be able to take advantage of new, innovative and customized third-party services in a quick and easy manner. Protecting vehicle data is part of our understanding of premium in the highly-connected vehicle. This is what customers expect from us. In this way, we are allowing customers to decide what happens with their data. This is precisely the philosophy behind BMW CarData.”
Eventually, this data can be used for more precise insurance premium calculations and even more expert mechanical repairs.

BMW Releases M240i M Performance Edition
M Performance Parts now enhance the already-sporty M240i coupe for drivers seeking a more athletic look for their vehicles. An Alpine White exterior of the model is coupled with carbon fiber or black details to provide a striking contrast. BMW describes, “The athletic look of the compact sports coupé is highlighted especially by the large 19 inch light alloy wheels, fitted with 225/35 R19 (front) and 245/30 R19 (rear) mixed tires. The high-quality double-spoke forged wheels are finished in bicolor Orbit Grey and have a diamond polished visible side; at the front the special edition features aerodynamic parts consisting of air guides, splitter and bumper front section, whose spoiler lip is finished in matte black. The radiator grille including kidney grille bars is also in black. The partly painted rear diffuser and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler add to the car’s expressive appeal. Here, too, carbon fiber and black colors create an impressive contrast to the car’s white paintwork.”

BMW has recently announced that four of its models qualify for California’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane use. Also known as the carpool lane, the HOV lane is normally restricted to vehicles carrying more than one person. However, several hybrid and electric vehicles that qualify for a California Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decal are allowed to drive in this traffic-light lane because they are exempt from the occupancy restriction.
The 2017 BMW i3 BEV electric car and the i3 REX plug-in hybrid are both eligible for a CAV decal. Additionally, the new 2018 BMW 530e and 530e xDrive models qualify for this same designation.

BMW Announces 2017 5 Series Pricing
BMW enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new 5 Series, which will be available in US showrooms next month. BMW released information about the updated model earlier in 2016. The 2016 5 Series will feature a 137-pound weight reduction (stemming from the use of aluminum, magnesium, and high-strength steel), improved performance and dynamics, an engine output increase of 35 horsepower in the 6-cylinder option, standard equipment enhancements (including adaptive LED headlights, sport seats, 18-inch wheels, and an anthracite headliner), and the addition of the latest iDrive 6.0 system.
Just last week, BMW announced the pricing options for this exciting new model. The 2017 BMW 530i will be available for $51,200, the 530i xDrive model for $53,500, the BMW 540i will be available for $56,450, and the BMW 540i xDrive model for $58,750 (plus a $995 Destination and Handling Fee and taxes).

We were so honored to work with The Bianca Rae Foundation’s Rae of Hope Retreat to raise funds at our annual Drive4Kids event in support of the non-profit organization. Founded in September 2014, the annual Rae of Hope Retreat brings together middle school girls for a day of learning about leadership, health, inner beauty, goal setting and positive fun. The mission of this retreat is to provide guidance and tools to help girls as they enter difficult teen years. Through Drive4Kids, indiGO Auto Group, BMW of Palm Springs, and our wonderfully generous customers who attended raised $43,750 for the Rae of Hope Retreat. Nearly 50 guests registered for our event and collectively donated a total of $23,750, while we at indiGO Auto Group and BMW of Palm Springs gifted an additional $20,000 to the foundation.
Our guests met at BMW of Palm Springs and fueled up with refreshments before taking a police escort to the BMW Performance Center in Thermal, CA. We raced around the track in high performance BMWs during four different track activities for more than three hours. A group of 10 girls who have benefitted from The Bianca Rae Foundation’s Rae of Hope Retreat also attended Drive4Kids and had a thrilling experience around the track.
